Great Royal Wife

By N.S. Gill, About.com

Definition: Great Royal Wife appears to have been a title given the pharaoh's wife on the day of his coronation starting in the Eighteenth Dynasty. She was an official state consort and may have been a sister or even daughter. There would be other wives as well, while the Great Royal Wife may not have been one with whom the pharaoh had sexual relations.
